All About the CRRC Rec Center

CRRC:  Community Resource and Recreation Center

That’s a mouthful!!!  But what does it stand for?  You’ll find out if you keep reading!

CRRC has a large campus in two locations that most people don’t even realize.  Not only can you shop our Thrift Store, get groceries from the Food Pantry, borrow durable medical equipment, get financial help with utility bills, and much more.  That’s the Community Resource part–but just down the road below the beautiful Canyon Lake Dam at 123 Mabel Jones Drive is the CRRC Recreation Center, Pavilion, Community Center, and home of the Dam Seniors.

The Rec Center, built in 2000, offers a wide variety of exercise and fitness programs, tailored to every ability level.  If you enjoy learning to dance or are ready for “Dancing with the Stars”, check out their calendar for Celtic dancing, line dancing, Western dancing, ballet, and even Latin dancing in ZUMBA!  If dancing is not your thing, that’s okay.  The Rec Center offers aerobics, yoga, Tone, Silver Sneakers, Fit and Fab, and wellness.  Join a breathing and Tai Chi class.  Or come to Weight Watchers to get ready for the summer beach season.  Pickleball is another popular sport that’s caught on everywhere, including Canyon Lake.  A Spurs Basketball league is very popular for the younger set.  For those not athletically or physically inclined, come play bridge, mahjong or bunco.

The 18,000 square foot Rec Center, Community Center (directly behind the Rec Center), and Pavilion are available for rental to just about any group or activity.  Baby showers, wedding showers, corporate retreats, anniversaries, birthdays, fundraisers, and the list is endless.

  • The Canyon Lake Dam Seniors (yes, their real name) meet every Monday and Thursday in the Senior Center, located in the Community Center Building. They offer activities from cards and dominoes to arts and crafts.  Members love the pot luck lunches, day trips and birthday celebrations.  The Seniors create handcrafted items to sell in the annual garage sale and Holiday Bazaar. Anyone can join—just show up!!!
  • The beautiful covered outdoor pavilion located adjacent to the Rec Center was built in 2013 with financial help from the Canyon Lake Noon Lions, Kronkosky Foundation, and other donors.  It was dedicated in 2014 in honor of the late Precinct 4 County Commissioner Jan Kennedy. Rentals are available from 7 am – 12 pm and guarantee your use only—including bathrooms, kitchen facilities and tables and chairs
  • CRRC Rec Center is home to the very popular North Pole Village, held the second and third weekends of December.  A community garage sale, Holiday Bazaar, and Western dance are just a few of the Rec Center events for the community.  These fundraisers help pay for upgrades, repairs, and new programs.  Check the Rec Center calendar at  for other great community events—golf tournament, Race to the Pantry, chili cook off, Mason’s BBQ, Canyon Lake Noon Lions Fish Fry and Shrimpfest, Winter Texan Reception, and Breakfast with Santa.
